The word chia is actually pronounced phonetically as “ky-uh”, meaning that a chia seed is not in the same family as the freakishly odd chia pets, plants, etc. that have been popularized on television by growing green-colored hair at a rapid rate. Actually, chia seeds come from a type of plant that has flowers.
Similarly to sunflower seeds, they can be harvested in their season (meaning whenever they look ripe). Chia seeds can only be grown well in Mexico and Guatemala. It has been proposed that the chia plant was a main factor in the diet of ancient civilizations in these areas. However, people in the United States of America and Western Europe did not know about them until recently, and since that point their has been a massive demand for the seeds of the chia plant due to their health benefits.
What are the Health Benefits?
First, it is important for someone to know that chia seeds are only extremely beneficial when they are properly developed. Good chia seeds should be bought when they are white or black. However, if a chia seed is red it means that it is not ready to be used. Also, if a chia seed is black, but smaller than most chia seeds, it is usually an off-version of a chia seed that is called a weed seed. It does not have nearly the health benefits of genuine, high-quality chia. So, what can these little pods do for a person?
Chia seeds are a great way for a person with type two diabetes to try and deal with some of the problems that they have. Many people who are lactose intolerant, or simply are against eating cheeses or drinking milk, usually lack in the amount of calcium that they need. However, chia seeds have enough calcium to care for one’s teeth and bones quite adequately, assuming they add them into many meals each day. Having extra calcium in a diet will ensure that a person does not have early diseases of the bones, furthered tooth decay, and a myriad of other negative outcomes.
Next, those little tiny seeds are loaded with phosphorus. Phosphorus is pivotal to making sure that one’s muscles and connective tissues stay healthy. So, if a person is pursuing great athletic exploits, just beginning to exercise, or, simply, wants to maintain the health and wellness of their body for the longest amount of time that is possible, chia seeds would be a great supplement to ensuring that those goals are well met.

So, if a person has just finished a workout or a run, eating a good deal of chia seeds within the next thirty minutes after that exercise period will help to build muscle mass, as well as the maintain the muscle tissue that is already present.

Claims about Weight Loss
